Philadelphia Union News Release
Chester, Pa. (February 25, 2011) - Philadelphia Union has added communication giant Verizon Communications, Inc. to their list of Founding Corporate Partners, the club announced today. Verizon will be the Union's and PPL Park's official provider of all non-wireless service, including residential and business phone, cable and internet. They will also be the official sponsor of the Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Association and the Delaware Youth Soccer Association.
"Verizon Communications is a world class company and we are very proud to partner with such a market leader and innovator," said Philadelphia Union CEO & Operating Partner Nick Sakiewicz. "We both share a commitment to quality, value and customer service and this relationship will provide our customers and fans some unique opportunities and do great things for both of our organizations in the years to come."
In addition to securing branding rights at PPL Park and in-market promotional rights, Verizon will also team up with the Union to support the club's Mobile Marketing Tour, a grassroots marketing effort that brings inflatables, giveaways and promo items to local youth soccer tournaments, festivals, parades and other events.
"We are delighted to partner with The Philadelphia Union Team and support Major League Soccer in Eastern Pennsylvania" said Verizon Director of Regional Marketing Toby Frank. "This partnership is a perfect fit for us because of its positive impact on the community. It offers great entertainment while it supports local programs with youth clubs."
Verizon will also be featured prominently on the web, as the company will run extensive consumer and web promotions throughout the season, as well as serve as the official sponsor of the Spanish section of Philadelphiaunion.com.
The Union begin the 2011 season at the Houston Dynamo on March 19th and return home to open PPL Park on March 26th against MLS newcomer Vancouver Whitecaps.
