Philadelphia Union Acquire Defender Jamir Berdecio

CHESTER, Pa. - Philadelphia Union announced today that they have acquired defender Jose Jamir Berdecio on loan from Club Deportivo Oriente Petrolero. Berdecio will remain on loan through 2024 with a permanent transfer option. The Bolivian youth international will be added to the Union's active roster following receipt of his International Transfer Certificate.
"Jamir is a young and very talented player," said Philadelphia Union Sporting Director, Ernst Tanner. "We've watched his play in both the Bolivian Primera División and Bolivia's U23 National Team and were impressed with his potential. We look forward to seeing how he integrates into our system of play and contributing to his development."
Berdecio, 21, comes to the Union from the Bolivian Primera División, Bolivia's first division, where he played for Club Deportivo Oriente Petrolero since 2021. In that time, he appeared in 37 matches (29 starts), making his debut against Club The Strongest on March 14, 2021. On January 1, 2024, Jose was named to Bolivia's U23 National Team roster for the first time in his career ahead of the upcoming 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
