Idaho Falls - Chukars pitcher Phil Davidson was named Pioneer League pitcher of the week for the week of 8/15-8/21. Davidson pitched in one game during the last week.
The Right-hander from Warwick, RI made his first start for Idaho Falls and picked up the win against Helena holding the Brewers to 2 runs on 5 hits in 6 innings. He also struck out a Chukars season high 9 batters. The win made Davidson's record 2-1 on the season.
Davidson was signed by the Kansas City Royals, as an undrafted free agent this past year after pitching collegiately at North Carolina State. He began his professional career with the Royals club in the Arizona League earlier this year.
He is the second Chukar to earn Pioneer League player/pitcher of the week this season. Kiel Thibault was named player of the week for the week of 8/14-8/20 when he batted .579 with 5 HR's and 15 RBI's including a league record tying 3 home run game.
