Phantoms to wear Firebirds jerseys on Sunday

(PHILADELPHIA, March 20, 2003) - The Philadelphia Phantoms will take fans back into the 1970's this Sunday when they wear replica jerseys of the old Philadelphia Firebirds for their game against the Hartford Wolf Pack at 6:05 p.m. on Tribute to Philly Hockey Night. Former members of the Firebirds will also be on hand to sign autographs and a memorabilia table will be on display on the concourse.
As a way to pay tribute to the Firebirds, who played at the Philadelphia Civic Center from 1974-77 in the NAHL and from 1977-79 in the AHL, the Phantoms will be wearing green jerseys with the famed red & yellow Firebirds logo on the front, with red, white & yellow stripes on the sleeves and bottom of the jersey.
Following the game, all the Phantoms players and coaches will head to Bullies Sports Bar & Restaurant to take part in the team's second jersey auction of the season. A total of $19,000 was raised on Dec. 20 in the first auction of the year after the team wore special red & green holiday jerseys during its 4-2 win over the Hershey Bears.
The Phantoms Wives Charity Foundation, a division of the Comcast-Spectacor Foundation, is dedicating proceeds from the jersey auction and all its fund-raising efforts this season to the National Adoption Center. The NAC is a private, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia that has found families for more than 19,000 children across the United States.
Firebirds alumni Steve Coates, Terry Murray, Reggie Lemelin, Dave Settlemyre and Mark Bousquet and former Flyer Ed Hospodar are scheduled to sign autographs on the concourse prior to the game and during the first intermission.
Philadelphia hosts the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks on Friday at 7:05 p.m. and play at Worcester on Saturday before Sunday's game against the Wolf Pack.
Tickets to all Phantoms home games are $18, $17 and $13 for adults, and $8 for all children 14 and under, and are available now at the First Union Center box office and all Ticketmaster locations throughout the Delaware Valley.
