Phantoms Finalize Trade with Fargo Force
December 1, 2015 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Youngstown Phantoms News Release
YOUNGSTOWN, OH- The Youngstown Phantoms have agreed to trade second year forward Grant Meyer to the Fargo Force in exchange for forward Tommy Apap. Apap will join Youngstown this week and be available for the weekend series against Des Moines.
"Grant Meyer is a wonderful young man and a great teammate, and he will be missed in Youngstown. However, we felt this trade was beneficial for both teams and for both players. Meyer will have a fresh start and change of scenery in Fargo, while Apap will get a chance to have an expanded role here in Youngstown. I've watched Tommy Apap for the past three years, and feel that we are definitely upgrading our team with this acquisition. We wish Grant Meyer all the best moving forward," said Phantoms General Manager Jason Koehler.
Apap is a 6'2" 200 pound left handed shot who can play both center and left wing. He hails from Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, and is committed to play college hockey at Michigan State University.
Apap was Fargo's 9th Round selection in the 2015 USHL Phase II Draft. He spent last season with the Wichita Falls Wildcats of the North American Hockey League (NAHL).
