Youngstown Phantoms News Release
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - The Youngstown Phantoms have acquired forward Josh Nenadal from the Waterloo Black Hawks, head coach and general manager Anthony Noreen announced today.
Nenadal, 18, appeared in a two games for the Black Hawks this season recording five shots. The second-year winger will join the Phantoms on the road this weekend as they take on the Green Bay Gamblers in a pair of games at the Resch Center. He will wear No. 19 for Youngstown.
"Josh is an honest, two-way power winger, who plays the game as hard anybody in the league," Noreen said. "He finishes hits, blocks shots and plays the game the exact way we want to play. We also feel that he can chip in offensively as well."
A native of Brecksville, Ohio, Nenadal put up a goal and added four assists for five points along with 42 penalty minutes in 36 games with Waterloo last season. In 15 playoff games last spring the 5-foor-9, 185-pound winger chipped in with 1-3-4 and 22 penalty minutes as the Black Hawks earned a berth in the Clark Cup Finals, only to fall to Gamblers in five games.
"We're hoping that he can take that experience [from the Clark Cup Finals] and leadership, and share it with our guys," Noreen said. "Hopefully it's contagious throughout our room."
The Black Hawks selected Nenadal in the seventh round (95th overall) of the 2011 USHL Entry Draft. Prior to joining Waterloo, he put up 17-15-32 and 88 penalty minutes in 40 games with the Cleveland Barons Under-18 AAA team in 2010-11.
