Seattle Reign FC News Release

SEATTLE, WA - The National Women's Soccer League announced today that OL Reign goalkeeper Phallon Tullis-Joyce has earned the NWSL Verizon Save of the Week for her save in the 41st minute of OL Reign's match against the Portland Thorns on Friday, May 13 at Providence Park in Portland, Oregon. This is the fifth time Tullis-Joyce has earned this honor.

The National Women's Soccer League Save of the Week is a weekly award given to individual players in the National Women's Soccer League since 2016. The honor is awarded by popular social media vote to the player deemed to have made the best save over the past week.

Tullis-Joyce has earned five NWSL Save of the Week honors in her 11 NWSL appearances across all competitions. In the regular season, Tullis-Joyce has been a standout player in the league. She currently leads the league in saves made, with 19 across three games. The goalkeeper has earned one clean sheet in the regular season, in OL Reign's 0-0 draw again against the Thorns. She's played every minute of OL Reign's 2022 campaign through the Challenge Cup and regular season.

In OL Reign's match against the Thorns on May 13, Tullis-Joyce made six total saves throughout the game. The save that earned her this week's Save of the Week honor occurred in the 41st minute of the match. Thorns forward Christine Sinclair played a through ball to forward Sophia Smith in the box. It looked like Smith was in on goal until Tullis-Joyce stepped off her line to deny Smith from scoring the opening goal of the match.
