Petes to Celebrate Special Olympics 50th Anniversary on Thursday

(Peterborough, ON) - The Peterborough Petes, in partnership with the Law Enforcement Torch Run and Special Olympics Ontario, will be raising awareness about the importance of individuals with an intellectual disability on Thursday, November 15 at 7:05pm when they host the Owen Sound Attack for the only time this season.

The awareness campaign is part of the ongoing commitment by the Ontario Hockey League, Peterborough Petes, and Special Olympics Ontario. A special pre-game ceremony will recognize Special Olympics Ontario, who will be represented by multiple Special Olympics athletes as well as members of the Peterborough Police Service and Law Enforcement Torch Run. A first intermission bucket pass will support Special Olympics Ontario.

A second intermission chuck-a-puck will support the Trent University women's rugby team.

The national anthem will be performed by students of Roseneath Centennial Public School.

On the ice, the Petes will face the Western Conference's fourth place club. They're led by centre Kevin Hancock, who is fourth in league scoring with 16 goals, 19 assists, and 35 points in 20 games for the Attack.

Following Thursday's game, the Petes will head west to face the London Knights on Friday, November 16 at 7:30pm and the Sarnia Sting on Saturday, November 17 at 7:05pm.
