(Bridgeport, Conn. - August 30, 2011) - The Bridgeport Bluefish (28-17, 60-48) swept their second straight series, defeating Lancaster Barnstormers (21-23, 58-49) on Tuesday 8-3 at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard. Bridgeport has won the last seven times that the two teams have met.

Wardell Starling (3-1) tossed six innings and allowed three runs for the Bluefish to pick up the victory. Chris Rivera, Antonio Alfonseca and Juan Rincon finished the contest by each throwing a scoreless frame. Barnstormers starter Yunior Novoa (5-4) suffered the loss for the road squad. He worked four-and-two-thirds innings and gave up four runs. Tim McNab, Evan Englebrook and Jonah Bayliss finished the rest of the game for the losing side.

Bridgeport started the scoring in the second. With two outs, Brock Peterson smacked a homer to leftcenter. His seventh shot of the season gave the home team the early lead.

Lancaster responded by scoring three times in the fourth. Fernando Seguignol led off with a blast to rightcenter to tie the score at one. After two outs had been recorded, Aaron Herr and Iggy Suarez singled to establish runners at first and second. Matt Tupman followed with a double to right to score both runners and give Lancaster a 3-1 lead.

The home team, though, came back. Steve Moss smacked his twelfth home run, of the season, with a solo drive to leftcenter in the fourth. In the fifth, Bridgeport took the lead for good. With one out, Angel Chavez singled and stole second. Prentice Redman singled to place runners at the corners. After an out had been recorded Lopez served an RBI single to center that pushed Redman to second. Wes Bankston pushed Redman to the plate with a single to center to give Bridgeport a 4-3 advantage.

The Bluefish added one more in the sixth before breaking the game open in the seventh. Lopez doubled to right with one out and advanced to third on a wild pitch. After a second batter had been retired, Moss walked to set up runners at the corners. An error by Evan Englebrook, on a throw to first, allowed Lopez to score and Moss to move into scoring position. A two-run drive by Peterson to left gave the Bluefish an 8-3 lead. It was his second homer of the night.

Bridgeport pushed two more runs across in the eighth to close the scoring. Consecutive singles by Michael Moras and Angel Chavez established runners at first and second. With two outs, Lopez sent his second double of the night to rightcenter to bring Moras and Chavez home.
