Peterborough Petes News Release
(Peterborough, ON) - Peterborough This Week, a member of the Kawartha Division of Metroland Media, has been named the presenting sponsor for the Peterborough Petes' historic 60th season. The award-winning local newspaper has a number of initiatives in the works for the 2015/16 campaign, starting this week with a special contest for fans.
On June 24, more than 45,500 homes in the Peterborough area will receive their Wednesday edition of Peterborough This Week with a special four-page Petes 60th season wrap, including personal letters from Petes GM Michael Oke and Head Coach Jody Hull, new ticket and sponsorship opportunities for members of the community, and exclusive features on current and upcoming Petes players.
In addition, Wednesday marks the launch of the "60 Players, 60 Years" contest, through which fans can win a pair of Petes season tickets and two Petes jerseys. To enter, fans must pick the best player from each of the Petes' 60 seasons. Contest hopefuls can enter once per week, choosing five players at a time, starting with the 1956-1960 era.
Peterborough This Week will also publish a 60th Anniversary Collectors Magazine during the season, featuring a history of the team, the results from the "60 Players, 60 Years" contest, playoff successes, record holders, biggest fan profiles, and more.
This Week General Manager, Mary Babcock, could not be more excited about this partnership. "This is a great opportunity to give back to the Petes, who have done so much for our community over the years," she says. "The players continue to provide inspiration and mentorship to local youth. Through the sport and community involvement, the organization provides a foundation for these young men to be successful on and off the ice."
Fans can also look out for other special promotions and offers from the partnership, including a special Petes ticket package on WagJag, other ticket contests, special features, in-game giveaways and more.
Petes Director of Sales, Marketing & Advertising, Aaron Garfat, echoed Babcock's sentiments. "We are very excited to partner with Peterborough This Week as the presenting sponsor of our 60th anniversary season. The Petes and Peterborough This Week have worked together for several years now on special publications and initiatives in the community, and this new partnership is a further extension of that relationship. I would like to thank Peterborough This Week Regional General Manager Mary Babcock, Sales Manager Kirtus Evoy, Multimedia Account Executive Jef Dueck, and all of the This Week staff for their continued support of the Peterborough Petes."
