
Pete Van Wieren To Throw Ceremonial First Pitch

Rome, GA - The Rome Braves announce that legendary broadcaster Pete Van Wieren will throw out the ceremonial first pitch on opening night April 16th.
For 33 years, Braves fans from all across the country enjoyed Van Wieren as the Voice of the Braves. His vast knowledge of the game earned him the nickname "The Professor" and listeners looked forward to his amazing insights during broadcasts. He is a 10 time winner of the "Georgia Sportscaster of the Year" award and was dubbed "Atlanta's Favorite Sportscaster" by the Atlanta Journal. In 2004 he was inducted into the Atlanta Braves Hall of Fame. A special video salute to his career will take place as well during pregame ceremonies.
Van Wieren has just published a book entitled "Of Mikes and Men, A Lifetime of Braves Baseball." He will be meeting and greeting fans at 5:30PM on the front plaza prior to the game.
