
Pesco Shines As Captains Roll

Eastlake, OHâ Nick Pesco pitched five shutout innings helping the Lake County Captains to a 7-3 victory over the Delmarva Shorebirds in South Atlantic League action Thursday night at Eastlake Ballpark.
Pesco (2-3), a former 25th round pick of the Indians in 2002, has thrown 16 consecutive scoreless innings in his last three starts. He allowed three hits and struck out one Shorebird.
Brad Snyder had three hits and three RBI's leading the offensive attack for the Captains. Javi Herrera and Matt Whitney each chipped in with two hits apiece.
The Captains tallied a total of four runs in the 6th and 7th innings, sending seven men to the plate in each inning. Lake County had 13 hits in the game with eight of the nine starters collecting at least one hit.
James Johnson (2-5) took the loss for Delmarva (28-32), after allowing 10 hits and four earned runs over six innings of work.
The Captains (29-31) have now won two straight and will close the current homestand Friday night against Delmarva at 7:05 at Eastlake Ballpark. Rafael Perez (0-5, 9.26) will pitch for the Captains against the Shorebirds' Christopher Britton (2-1, 4.32).
Notes: Pesco will return home tonight without one of his roommates, Brandon Pinckney, who leads the SAL in batting at .364 and earned a promotion to AA Akron Thursday morning...Pinckney did not play in Akron's 6-5 loss at Norwich...Johnson has now lost his last four starts...Rojas recorded his team-leading 14th steal in the third inning, and is now 14-17 on the season...Snyder is now hitting .400 (10-25) with 9 RBI's in six games against Delmarva...Delmarva third baseman Bryan Bass went 0-for-5, one night after going 4-for-5 against Hagerstown.
