Patriots Win Seventh Straight By Beating Nashua 10-3

Bridgewater, NJ- The Somerset Patriots, led by right fielder Ryan Radmanovich's 5 for 5 performance with two home runs, three runs scored, and four RBI defeated the Nashua Pride 10-3 in front of 4,045 fans at Commerce Bank Ballpark on Thursday evening to extend their winning streak to seven straight games.

The Pride struck in the top of the first inning. Right fielder Kevan Burns reached on a fielder's choice. A throwing error allowed Burns to reach third and left fielder Glenn Murray to reach second. Burns and Murray would come around to score on a single by center fielder Carlos Rodriguez to put the Pride up 2-0.

The Patriots scored six runs in the bottom of the second inning. Radmanovich and third baseman Jeff Nettles each singled and came around to score on an RBI double by first baseman Chris Lemonis. Left fielder Chris Wakeland followed with an RBI double and center fielder Norm Hutchins reached on a single. Second baseman Emiliano Escandon singled home Wakeland and designated hitter Paul Ottavinia singled home Hutchins to give Somerset a 6-2 lead.

Somerset added a run in the bottom of the fifth inning. Radmanovich hit a solo home run (5) down the right field line to increase the Patriots lead to 7-2.

Nashua narrowed the gap in the top of the seventh. Designated hitter Omar Garcia walked and came around to score on an RBI double by Rodriguez, making the score 7-3 Patriots.

The Patriots pushed across another run in the bottom of the seventh. Escandon singled and moved to second on an error by the shortstop. He would come around to score on an RBI single by Ottavinia to make the score 8-3 Patriots.

Somerset scored two more runs in the bottom of the eighth inning. Radmanovich blasted his second home run of the game (6), a two run shot, to make the score 10-3 Patriots.

Patriots starter Dan Mozingo (1-0) earned a win in his first start for the Patriots, allowing three runs- one earned- on five hits and two strikeouts. Nashua starter Jason Navarro (2-2) suffered the loss, allowing six earned runs on eight hits in two innings pitched.

The 2004 Somerset Patriots Season presented by Ford will continue at home on Friday evening with a 7:05 pm game against the Nashua Pride. Friday's game includes DeVry University Mouse Pads for the first 2,000 fans in attendance.
