Mississippi RiverKings News Release

SOUTHAVEN, MS --- The Mississippi RiverKings have added Chris Perugini (pronounced PAIR-uh-ghee-nee) to serve in the team's "emergency goaltender" role on the 2011 Central Hockey League playoff roster.

Perugini, a native of King City, Ontario, recently completed his major-junior career in the Ontario Hockey League with the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds. The 5-10, 160 pound net minder was traded to the Greyhounds after playing three games this season with the Ottawa 67's of the same league.

Chris also played three prior seasons for the 67's and earned an 81-54-18 record in 165 career OHL appearances. His career goals-against-average in the OHL was 3.42 and his save percentage was .898 in 165 career appearances.

Perugini earned seven shutouts in Ottawa and Sault Ste. Marie, playing in 9005 career minutes of action.

In his major junior career, Perugini also played in ten playoff games, all with Ottawa, earning a 5-3 record in three playoff seasons.

Perugini has also attended an NHL rookie camp, being part of the Phoenix Coyotes rookie camp in September 2009.

In addition to the 19 players earlier declared to be eligible for the Ray Miron President's Cup Playoffs, Central Hockey League teams may add an emergency goaltender and two additional amateur players at any time during the team's post-season run.

The Mississippi RiverKings begin the club's fifth straight playoff season and 13th in the team history tomorrow night at Tulsa against the Oilers in a 7:05 PM start. After game two of the best-of-five Opening Round Series in Tulsa on Friday evening at 7:35 PM, the series comes to Southaven's DeSoto Civic Center for game three on Sunday, April 3rd at 5:05 PM.
