Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release

Rancho Cucamonga, CA - The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes won their third straight series, taking two of three from the Lake Elsinore Storm and moving to within just two games of first place in the South Division, with an 8-3 win on Friday night at The Epicenter.

Mike Pericht enjoyed a career-game, as he swatted a pair of homers in a 4-for-4 effort and collected a career-best six RBIs.

After Padres' rehabbing reliever Huston Street tossed a perfect first, Pericht's two-run double with two outs in the second put Rancho on the board against Lake Elsinore's Mark Pope, making it 2-0.

Zach Lee returned to the Quakes' rotation after a three-week absence and was impressive, allowing just one hit over three scoreless innings.

Garrett Gould followed Lee out of the pen though, and didn't fare very well on Friday night. Gould allowed a pair of runs in the fourth, as Tommy Medica had an RBI groundout before Rymer Liriano's RBI single evened the game at 2-2.

The Quakes took back the lead in the bottom of the inning though, as Pope (4-6) uncorked a wild pitch to scored Jonathan Garcia, making it 3-2. Pope was replaced after he allowed the first three hitters to reach to open the fourth. Jerry Sullivan came out of the bullpen and was greeted by Pericht's first of two homers, a three-run shot to make it 6-2.

Chris Jacobs and Pericht hit back-to-back two-out blasts in the eighth, as Rancho took a commanding 8-2 lead. For Jacobs, the bomb is his sixth, while Pericht's second of the night gives him eight on the year.

Scott McGough was touched for a run in the ninth, but struck out the final two batters to end any chance of a Storm comeback.

Jordan Roberts (1-0) was credited with the win in relief, as the lefty tossed three scoreless frames.

The Quakes (27-28) hit the road to Lancaster on Saturday, for three straight against the JetHawks. Brandon Martinez (1-1) will go for the Quakes, while the JetHawks will counter with Tyson Perez (3-1) at 7:00pm.

The Quakes are on the road for six straight, before returning to The Epicenter on Friday, June 8th, when they open a six-game home stand. Friday, June 8th is Quakes Cooler Bag Giveaway, thanks to Safeco Insurance. Tickets are available by calling 909-481-5000 online at rcquakes.com. Go Quakes!
