SAN JOSE - The Bakersfield Blaze scored eight unanswered runs to finish the game, including five runs over the last two innings, to earn a 10-4 victory over the San Jose Giants on Friday evening at Municipal Stadium. Bakersfield completed a sweep of the three-game series while the Giants finished their homestand with an 0-6 record. The loss trims San Jose's (32-23) lead over the Blaze (31-23) to a 1/2 game in the first half North Division race.

Jarrett Parker (3-for-4, 3B, 3 RBI, SB) had three hits and drove home three runs to lead the Giants offensively. Ricky Oropesa (2-for-4) and Carter Jurica (2-for-4) also finished with two hits apiece.

San Jose carried a 4-2 lead into the fifth inning when Bakersfield pushed across three runs against Jack Snodgrass to move back in front. Three straight singles from James Ewing, Theo Bowe and Billy Hamilton started the frame and produced the first run of the inning. Then with Devin Lohman at the plate, Hamilton was caught at first on an attempted pick-off, however Bowe raced home and beat the tag from catcher Andrew Susac for the second run. Bowe was credited with a steal of home to tie the game 4-4 while Hamilton was able to take second. Lohman then struck out, however Bryson Smith followed with an RBI single to center for a 5-4 Blaze advantage.

The Giants threatened in the bottom of the fifth as Joe Panik led off with a double, but was unable to advance any further as Adam Duvall flied out, Oropesa struck out and Susac flied out.

Still trailing 5-4, San Jose again put the potential tying run in scoring position in the seventh. Jurica led off with a single before advancing to second on a one-out wild pitch. A Panik groundout moved Jurica to third, but Duvall flied out to center to end the inning.

Bakersfield then blew the game open with three runs in the top of the eighth before two more scores in the ninth. Facing reliever Seth Rosin (1/3 IP, 1 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 1 SO), Niko Vasquez drew a one- out walk in the eighth before Dominic D'Anna also walked. Tucker Barnhart then doubled into the right center field gap to score Vasquez. Ewing was up next and he greeted new pitcher Chris Wilson (2/3 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 SO) with a single to plate two more runs for an 8-4 Blaze lead.

In the ninth, Edward Concepcion (2/3 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 0 SO) issued three consecutive two-out walks before Ewing singled home two more runs to make it 10-4.

Bakersfield starting pitcher Chad Rogers (3-2) was credited with the win after tossing six innings with four runs (three earned) and eight hits allowed. He struck out eight and did not walk a batter.

The Blaze initially jumped out to a 2-0 lead with single runs in the first two innings against Snodgrass. Hamilton started the game with a single, stole second, took third on a wild pitch and came home on Smith's groundout. Then in the second, D'Anna was hit by a pitch with one out before a potential double play grounder off the bat of Barnhart was misplayed by the Giants for an error. D'Anna advanced to third on the play and then scored when Ewing bounced into a fielder's choice.

San Jose responded in the bottom of the second as Oropesa led off with a single before Susac reached on an error. Parker then stepped to the plate and lined a triple into the right center field gap to score both runners and tie the game. Parker later scored on a wild pitch to give the Giants a 3-2 lead.

San Jose added a run in the bottom of the third as consecutive one-out singles from Oropesa and Susac put runners on the corners. Parker followed by grounding into a fielder's choice as Oropesa came home to make it 4-2.

Snodgrass kept the Blaze off the scoreboard in the third and fourth innings before running into trouble in the top of the fifth. Snodgrass (5-2) was saddled with the loss after yielding five runs (four earned) on seven hits over a career-high tying seven innings. He walked three and struck out three.
