San Angelo Colts News Release

San Angelo, Texas---After Colts third baseman Landon Camp (17) hammered a three-run home run in the bottom of the first, Rio Grande Valley answered with an eight-run bottom of the second on the way to a 13-7 win over San Angelo at Foster Field Wednesday night.

Seven of the first eight White Wings hitters reached base against Brian Henschel (7-6, 5.52) in the visitor's half of the second. Henschel did not get hit particularly hard, but ground balls seemed to find holes in the infield for a barrage of softly hit singles. The biggest blow of the inning was a two-run double by the Wings' David Peralta.

The score stayed 8-3 until the bottom of the fourth, when San Angelo scored two runs on a double and an error. The White Wings would quickly answer with a two-run bomb off the bat of Alexis Oliveros (1) to make it 10-5.

Rio Grande Valley starter Eddie Dennis, Jr. looked shaky at times, but settled down over his last three innings of work to earn the win. Dennis (2-1, 7.29) went six innings and earned the win after he allowed five runs, four earned, on four hits. Henschel had a six game undefeated streak snapped, as he took the loss after allowing 10 runs in five innings.

Rio would add two more runs in the top of the eighth inning, when Peralta (17) homered off of San Angelo reliever Chace Vacek. Camp (18) added his second home run of the night, a two-run shot in the bottom of the eighth. Juan Cedeno (1) pitched the last three innings to earn the save for Rio.

The series finale is Thursday night, when the Colts will start LHP Logan Williamson (10-1, 4.42) against Rio's LHP Chase Davenport (5-5, 4.81). It's Thirsty Thursday at Foster Field, presented by Miller Lite, so for tickets call 94-COLTS or visit sanangelocolts.com.
