Penguins to spend five days in Wilkes-Barre

WILKES-BARRE, PA - The Pittsburgh Penguins will begin the Wilkes-Barre portion of their 2005 training camp schedule on Wednesday, Sept. 21 at the Wachovia Arena at Casey Plaza, it was announced today by Pittsburgh General Manager Craig Patrick.

The NHL Penguins will spend five days at the home of their AHL affiliate, holding 14 on-ice practice sessions in Wilkes-Barre during that time (see accompanying schedule, times subject to change).

The Penguins will hold four days of practice at the Wachovia Arena at Casey Plaza (Sept. 21, 22, 24 and 25) and one day at the Ice Box in Pittston (Sept. 23). All practice sessions are free and open to the public.

Pittsburgh also announced its training camp roster, which consists of 39 forwards, 24 defensemen and five goaltenders (see accompanying file).

The Penguins will face off in two NHL exhibition contests in Wilkes-Barre - Wednesday, Sept. 21 against the Boston Bruins and Saturday, Sept. 24 against the Ottawa Senators.
