HERSHEY, Pa. - The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins were able to overcome a two-goal deficit in the third period and four power play goals from the Hershey Bears to score a 6-5 shootout win on Wednesday at GIANT Center.

After a flurry of goals in the middle period sent the game into the third with a 3-3 score, a parade of Wilkes-Barre/Scranton players to the penalty box would give Hershey consecutive 5-on-3 advantages. Chris Bourque and Ryan Potulny ripped home one-timers over a span of 1:05 to seemingly break open the game. .

Eric Tangradi's second marker of the night started Wilkes-Barre/Scranton's rally at 11:02 with a feed from behind that net that banked off of goalie Dany Sabourin and across the goal line.

Soon thereafter the Penguins then had a chance to pull even with their own two-man advantage, but were denied by the Bears and Sabourin.

Nick Petersen ensured that Wilkes-Barre/Scranton wouldn't regret the missed opportunity as his centering pass clipped off the leg of Christian Hanson and rolled by the Hershey netminder with just 1:53 remaining in the third.

Despite outshooting the Bears by a 7-0 margin in the ensuing overtime, the Penguins could not manage the deciding tally and the two teams headed to the shootout.

Through the first eight rounds, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and Hershey each notched only a single goal. After Scott Munroe made a glove save on Graham Mink, Geoff Walker roofed a backhand shot to give the Penguins the win - their ninth straight at GIANT Center. Munroe also stopped 23 shots through overtime.

Tangradi started the scoring in the game, tipping in a power play goal at 1:21 of the second.

The Bears used their first man-advantage to knot the contest midway through the frame when Mink quickly stuffed a bouncing puck by Munroe.

Tied later in the period, 2-2, Zach Sill scored Wilkes-Barre/Scranton's first shorthanded goal since November 10 to help them retake the lead, but Tomas Kundratek responded for Hershey on the power play with 22 seconds until the second intermission.
