Penguins acquire Brookbank from Boston, Assigned to Wilkes-Barre

WILKES-BARRE, PA - The Pittsburgh Penguins have acquired defenseman Wade Brookbank from the Boston Bruins for future considerations, it was announced on Tuesday. Brookbank has subsequently been assigned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

A 6-4, 225 pound native of Lanigan, Saskatchewan, Brookbank has appeared in seven games with Boston this season, recording one goal and 15 penalty minutes. He also spent four games with the Providence Bruins (AHL), going scoreless with 15 penalty minutes.

Brookbank, 29, appeared in an NHL career-high 32 games with the Vancouver Canucks last season, recording three points (1+2) and 81 penalty minutes. He has appeared in a total of 68 career NHL games with the Bruins, Canucks and Nashville Predators, recording six points (4+2) and 229 penalty minutes.

Brookbank has played 167 American Hockey League games with Grand Rapids, Binghamton, Milwaukee, Manitoba and Providence, combining for seven points (1+6) and 714 penalty minutes. He also appeared in 29 games with Orlando of the International Hockey League and 114 games with Oklahoma City of the Central Hockey League.
