Callahan to Rangers, Ozolinsh joins Pack

New York, December 19, 2006 -- New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that forward Ryan Callahan has been recalled from the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League (AHL) and defenseman Sandis Ozolinsh has been assigned to Hartford.

Callahan, 21, has skated in 25 games with Hartford (AHL) this season, registering 19 goals and eight assists for 27 points, along with a plus-six rating and 32 penalty minutes. In his first professional season, the 5-11, 185-pound forward leads the Wolf Pack in goals (19), power play goals (nine), points (27), and plus/minus (plus-six). His nine power play goals is currently tied for third in the league, while his 19 goals is tied for fourth among all AHL players. On December 1, Callahan made his NHL debut with the Rangers at Buffalo after being recalled from Hartford (AHL) on November 28.

Ozolinsh, 34, has picked up three assists and eight penalty minutes in 21 games with the Rangers this season. The 6-3, 220-pound defenseman has appeared in 21 of the last 27 games after missing the first seven games of the season due to off-season knee surgery.
