Pensacola Pelicans News Release
The Pensacola Pelicans will play game three of the American Association Championship Series on Friday, September 11 at 7:05 p.m., the eighth anniversary of 9/11. The Pensacola Pelicans will remember 9/11 by honoring all Police, Fire, EMT, and active duty military personnel with a free general admission ticket to Friday's play-off game with a valid badge or I.D.
A moment of silence will pay tribute to all who served on September 11, 2001, and Camille Colon will sing "God Bless America" before the seventh-inning stretch. Our nation's colors will be presented by Eglin Air Force Base Honor Guard.
Friday is game three in the best-of-five American Association Championship Series. This is the first visit to the Championship Series for both the Pensacola Pelicans and the Lincoln Saltdogs. Pensacola has had a meteoric rise to the championship level. After finding themselves 12-18 at one point during the first half of the season, the Pelicans rallied to win the second half division crown and faced the Fort Worth Cats in the semifinals. The Pelicans defeated the Cats handily, by scores of 7-0 and 12-4 for example, to win the best-of-five series two games to one.
Now Pensacola is in its first true Championship Series. Though challenged on Tuesday's series opener, the Pelicans prevailed in eleven innings, topping the Saltdogs 7-6. Be part of Pensacola's championship run by attending Friday's game three at 7:05 p.m.
Tickets to the game start at just $9, and are available at www.pensacolapelicans.com, via phone at (850) 934-8444, or in person at the Box Office at Pelican Park one hour prior to game time. If necessary, game four will be held Saturday at 7:05 p.m. and Sunday's game five would start at 4:05 p.m.
