Down one game to none and trailing 1-0 halfway through game two of the Championship Series, Lincoln needed to get their offense going. LF Rafael Alvarez and 3B Brandon Jones responded and helped carry the Saltdogs to a 6-1 triumph over Pensacola, evening the series at one win apiece. Alvarez led off the bottom of the sixth inning with a solo homerun to tie the game and Jones doubled later in the inning to drive in two runs and give Lincoln a 3-1 advantage. Alvarez added some insurance with a RBI single in the seventh inning and Jones drove in another run with his second double in the eighth inning. Alvarez finished a perfect 3-for-3 with a homerun, walk, and two RBI while Jones finished 2-for-4 with three batted in. Saltdogs starter Jim Paduch struck out six and allowed just one run on four hits in six innings of work. He improved to 2-0 in the postseason with the win. Lincoln relievers Matt Petrusek and Chris Thompson picked up where Paduch left off as they continued to stymie Pensacola's high powered offense by holding the Pelicans scoreless on just two hits over the final three innings. Tied 1-1, the series now shifts to Pensacola with game three set for Friday night.
