WINSTON-SALEM, NC - Miguel De Los Santos threw 6.2 sterling innings and kept the Winston-Salem offense at bay, and Myrtle Beach took home a 3-1 win in game three on Saturday night at BB&T Ballpark. The 7,039 fans at the ballpark marked the 20th sell-out of the season and was the second-highest attendance of 2011.

With the sell-out, the 2011 Winston-Salem Dash set a new organization record with 20. The previous mark was 19, set last year in the inaugural season of BB&T Ballpark.

Myrtle Beach (29-33, 69-62) started off the scoring in the third inning when Jimmy Swift homered against Dash starter Matt Wickswat.

In the fourth, the first three Pelicans batters reached against Wickswat. Mike Olt singled, Andrew Clark walked, and Vinny DiFazio singled to load the bases. Zach Zaneski then grounded out to third, scoring Olt and giving the Pelicans a 2-0 lead.

Winston-Salem (34-29, 66-67) responded with two outs in the bottom of the fourth. Andy Wilkins singled and then came around to score when Ian Gac doubled to right-center field. Gac, the tying run, was stranded at second to end the inning.

The Birds scored added some insurance in the seventh inning. Zaneski doubled to start the frame, and with two outs scored on a single by Andres James.

The Dash brought the tying run to the plate in the eighth inning when Jared Mitchell singled and advanced as far as third, but could not score against Pelicans reliever Ryan Kelly. In the ninth, Gac singled with two outs to again bring the tying run to bat, but the Dash could not score.

Miguel De Los Santos (6-3) got the start for Myrtle and threw a stellar 6.2 innings. He struck out nine hitters and allowed one run on three hits and also picked up the win. Wickswat (5-6) registered a quality start but still was hit with the loss. He gave up three runs (all earned) on seven hits in seven innings and struck out six. Jimmy Reyes picked up a one-out save by retiring Nick Ciolli to end the game.

Winston-Salem and Myrtle Beach conclude the final regular season series between the two teams on Sunday evening at 5 p.m. at BB&T Ballpark. The Carolina League leader in wins, RHP Cameron Bayne (11-7), throws for the Dash against RHP Wilfredo Boscan (4-11, 4.34).
