Pensacola Pelicans News Release

SITE: QuikTrip Park in Grand Prairie, TX (August 3-6, 2009)

TIME: 7:05 p.m. Central Time on Monday through Thursday.

ABOUT THE SERIES:

The Pelicans and Air Hogs have split the series to date, with each club claiming eight wins. The Pelicans are currently in second place, a half-game behind the Shreveport-Bossier Captains. Grand Prairie is in third, three games back.

The Pelicans have taken 10 of their last 13 games, with an eight game winning streak from July 17-27, their longest winning streak since the 2004 season. Flirting with first place over the last week, Pensacola is coming off a 2-1 series win at home against the first-half winners, the Fort Worth Cats.

Grand Prairie is coming off a 2-2 series split with the El Paso Diablos at home, with Grand Prairie winning the middle games. The Air Hogs rotation is always a game-day decision, but one thing is certain: Jose Cordero will start on Monday, and he's looking for a turnaround. Cordero's last three decisions have been losses. With a 4-4 record and 4.12 ERA, Cordero has the stuff; he just needs to implement it on Monday.
