Jason Cooper & Derek Blacksher Named American Association Batter and Pitcher of the Week

DURHAM, NC - The official statistician of the American Association, PA-Sportsticker, has selected St. Paul Saints 1B Jason Cooper and Wichita Wingnuts RHP Derek Blacksher as the Teamline Direct Batter and Pitcher of the Week.

Cooper hit .393 this past week with three home runs and 11 RBI. He banged out 11 hits, including three doubles, scored seven times and had a slugging percentage of .821. In Wednesday's 7-1 victory over the Sioux Falls Canaries, Cooper went 2-for-5 with a home run, two runs scored and three RBI. The Phoenix, AZ resident is currently batting .342 with six home runs, 29 RBI and 10 doubles.

Blacksher tossed seven shutout innings in the 12-4 win over the Pensacola Pelicans Wednesday. He gave up one walk and three hits with striking out five Pensacola batters. On the season, the Sulphur, LA resident is 7-2 with a 3.36 ERA in 14 starts.
