Pelicans, Diablos Face-Off for Last Time This Year

The Pelicans head to El Paso to play the Diablos for the last time this season. The Pelicans and Diablos have met up 15 times this season and Pensacola has won nine of those games. Both teams have fallen on hard times as of late, winning just two of their last ten games. This series is very important to both teams as the season is coming to an end and both teams need every win they can get to try and make it into the post season.

The Pelicans have managed to keep games close though and the starting pitching has been performing pretty well. In their last ten games the Pelicans have scored more than three runs only twice.

The Diablos pitching staff has a 6.70 team ERA against the Pelicans this season and they have allowed 97 earned runs while striking out 88. El Paso is hitting .292 against Pelican pitching this season. They have tallied 150 hits, including 27 doubles and six homeruns against the Pels this season.

Pelican batters are hitting a tremendous .343 against the Diablos this season as four starters, all appearing in at least 10 games against El Paso, are hitting over .400. They have amassed 186 hits, including 36 doubles and 12 homeruns against the Diablos. Pelican pitchers have a 4.96 team ERA against El Paso this season with, allowing 72 earned runs while striking out 94 batters.

WHO TO WATCH:

Pensacola: Rolo Avila - CF - Hitting .417 against the Diablos this season with 12 RBI and 20 hits. Michael Hyle - SP - Along with the majority of the Pelican starters, Hyle has been very effective lately in keeping the Pelicans in the game. In his last start he threw 6.2 innings, scattered eight hits and gave up three runs.

El Paso: Logan Wood -OF- Is hitting .395 against the Pelicans this season in 10 games. He has 17 hits, including five doubles and has driven in 7 runners. Robert Wachman -SP- Has pitched very well against the Pelicans this season. In two starts, he is 2-0 with a 1.69 ERA and eight strikeouts. In 10.2 innings he has allowed just two earned runs.
