
St. Joe battles to win finale

ST. PAUL, MN- St. Joe (15-17, 41-39) outlasted St. Paul (15-17, 44-36) in a hard-fought contest, 6-4 to salvage the finale of the three-game series. There were four lead changes, with the Blacksnakes scoring the final three runs of the night for the win.
The game went back-and-forth through the middle innings after St. Joe took their first lead in the series with a first inning run. Scooter Jordan singled, advanced to third on Ben Thomas' double and scored on a Cory Harris groundout for a 1-0 lead.
St. Paul took the lead with two runs in the fifth before St. Joe went back ahead with a pair more of their own in the sixth on a Cody Nowlin two-run single to make it 3-2. However the Saints rallied for the lead again with a two-run sixth to take a 4-3 edge.
The Blacksnakes tied it, 4-4, in the seventh on Denver Kitch's first home run of the season. In the eighth, Misha Dworken came through against his old team, breaking a 4-all tie with a two-run single to center field.
Jamie Tricoglou pitched two uneventful innings for his 14th save of the season.
The Blacksnakes take the bus back to St. Joe to open a three-game series with division leading Lincoln Thursday. J.C. Huguet (4-3) will take the hill for the 'Snakes against the Saltdogs' Jeff Blitstein (7-1). Game time is 7:05 pm and the gates open at 6pm at Phil Welch Stadium. It is "Thirsty Thursday" at the ballpark with drink specials all night.
