In a game that took just 2:04, Coastal Bend starting pitcher Bryan Heaston bested Todd Androsko in a pitcher's duel at Robstown, TX. Heaston tossed a complete-game shutout, allowing three hits and walking one while striking out nine, to improve to 6-3 on the season. Androsko allowed four hits and two earned runs while striking out eight, but fell to 3-5. Pelicans 3B Trino Aguilar was the only player from either team to record more than one hit going 2-for-4. With the win, the Aviators pick up a half-game on Fort Worth for the South Division lead.

Sioux City 12, Sioux Falls 7

Sioux City 3B Ryan Gripp had a big night offensively in an effort to move the Explorers closer to the Wild Card leading St. Paul Saints, going 5-for-6 with a run scored and three RBIs in his team's win over Sioux Falls. Gripp doubled twice in the game, giving him 25 on the season and placing him among the league leaders in the American Association. CF Zack Pace also had a big night, going 3-for-4 with four runs and an RBI. The Explorers pounded out 18 hits as a team and six different players record multi-hit games. The win improves Sioux City to 39-41 on the year, just five games back of the Wild Card lead.

St. Joe 6, St. Paul 4

St. Joe edged St. Paul 6-4 and, in doing so, moved into a three-way tie for second place in the North Division with the Saints and Sioux City. More importantly, the Blacksnakes pulled to within three games of the Saints for the Wild Card, improving to 41-39 on the season. St. Joe powered past St. Paul thanks to 11 hits and two runs in the eighth inning that put the Blacksnakes ahead for good. 2B Denver Kitch was 2-for-4, including his first home run of the season, with a run scored and an RBI to lead St. Joe at the plate.
