Pelicans Coaches Show Features PRN Radio Voice

The Pensacola Pelicans announced today that Performance Racing Network (PRN) President, General Manager, and co-anchor Doug Rice will be on the weekly Pelicans Coaches Show on Saturday, July 15. The show airs LIVE from New York Nick's in downtown Pensacola from noon to 1 p.m.

Rice has been a part of PRN since 1988 where he started out as the Affiliates Manager. Originally from Asheville, NC, Rice graduated from Appalachian State University with a degree in Speech/Broadcasting. His broadcasting career started at WSTP/WRDX in Salisbury, NC, where he served as the Program Director, morning show host and sports play-by-play announcer.

During his time in Salisbury, Rice received the United Press International National Broadcast Award for Outstanding Sports Coverage in 1982. Rice's sports-casting career has included doing play-by-play of both college football and basketball.

Throughout his career, he has worked on numerous broadcast teams including Fox Sports Net and the Indy Racing Radio Network. In addition to his on-air duties with PRN, Rice is also the co-anchor for the Indy Radio Network broadcast of the Brickyard 400.

His career highlights include announcing several first-time winners including Bobby Labonte, Jeff Gordon, and Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s first Winston Cup win at Texas Motor Speedway.

Hosts Jay Burnham and Eric Lewitke will also be joined by Pelicans Manager Kash Beauchamp to discuss his team's recent six-game road trip in El Paso and the three-game series versus the Coastal Bend Aviators before heading into the All-Star break.

As of July 13, the Pelicans lead the American Association in hitting with a .292 average. The Pelicans pitching staff is fourth with an earned run average of 4.19. Three Pelicans players are in the Top 10 in the league in hitting: Ed Montague, Carlos Mendoza and Trino Aguilar.
