New Mexico Scorpions News Release

ALBUQUERQUE – After jacking up cars and trucks on NASCAR's Busch and Craftsman Truck Series this summer, defenseman Shaun Peet will make his return to the New Mexico Scorpions lineup tomorrow night when they take on the Tulsa Oilers in a Thanksgiving Eve game. Faceoff at Tingley Coliseum is 7:05 p.m.

Peet, 28, returned to Albuquerque last week but was awaiting approval of his work visa. He led the Scorpions with 240 penalty minutes last season in addition to posting one goal and nine points. The 6-foot-2, 220-pound native of Nanaimo, British Columbia spent the summer as a jackman on the pit crew for driver Scott Wimmer in the NASCAR Busch Series and driver Terry Cook in the Craftsman Truck Series. Both drivers finished ninth in their respective points standings.

"We're thrilled that Shaun has been cleared to play," said Scorpions Head Coach/Assistant General Manager Bill McDonald. "We all know what he brings to the ice with his defensive and physical play, but we're also looking forward to the leadership and character that he provides on and off the ice."

Tomorrow's game is GIANT ThunderStick Night, as the first 2,500 fans receive a FREE set of Scorpions ThunderSticks courtesy of GIANT Gasoline and Convenience Stores. Following the game, the Scorpions will be heading over to the Downs at Albuquerque for a FREE fireworks display and more at the Jockey Club.

The game can be heard on the radio locally on Sports Radio 610 The Sports Animal (KNML-AM) beginning at 6:50 p.m., or you can listen on the Internet by going on the Scorpions' official web site at www.scorpionshockey.com and clicking on the Multimedia link followed by Radio Streaming, or by going directly to www.SportsJuice.com.

The Scorpions begin a two-game road trip on Friday, Nov. 29 when they have a return match against the Oilers in Tulsa. Faceoff is 6:35 p.m. MST. The Scorpions finish the trip at Fort Worth on Saturday, Nov. 30 at 6:30 p.m. MST before returning home on Tuesday, Dec. 2 as the Memphis RiverKings make their first-ever visit to Tingley Coliseum. Faceoff for that game is 7:05 p.m.
