Charlotte Knights News Release

FORT MILL, S.C. - Making the second start of his major league rehab assignment, Chicago White Sox pitcher Jake Peavy looked both dominant and shaky in a game that the Charlotte Knights lost to the Durham Bulls 5-2.

Peavy consistently hit the low 90s with his fastball and at times looked like the Cy Young award winning pitcher he is. The Bulls did manage to have some success against Peavy, as both Brandon Guyer and Jose Lobaton each had three hits off of the White Sox ace. Bulls third baseman Russ Canzler certainly had the longest hit of the game, hitting a Peavy fastball off the center field scoreboard for a home run.

Knights outfielder Jordan Danks and first baseman Jim Gallagher accounted for all five of the Charlotte hits. Gallagher hit his first home run of the season in the third inning to give the Knights an early lead.

Durham's Dirk Hayhurst picked up the win in the game as he struck out seven. Peavy was given the loss. The Knights did have a very good first homestand of the season, finishing with a 5-2 record. Charlotte will begin a nine game road trip tomorrow in Gwinnett.

RHP Jeff Marquez is scheduled to start for the Knights tomorrow. The Gwinnett Braves will counter with RHP Julio Teheran.

The Charlotte Knights are the Triple-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox. For ticket or event information, please contact the Knights front office at (704) 357-8071 or (803) 548-8050 or visit our website at for more information.
