Pearson Returns to Barnstormers

DES MOINES - The Iowa Barnstormers have re-signed veteran defensive back Tyrell Pearson to the 2024 roster, Head Coach Dave Mogensen announced today.
Pearson (5-9, 171, University of South Alabama) returns to the Iowa Barnstormers after a brief stint with the Arizona Rattlers for the 2021 season. While with the Rattlers, Pearson collected 56 tackles, 24 pass breakups, four interceptions, two fumble recoveries, and a forced fumble earning him Second Team All-IFL Honors.
Pearson first joined the Iowa Barnstormers in 2018 and had a standout season finishing with a pass breakup in the end zone on the final play of the 2018 United Bowl, giving the Barnstormers their first ever Championship Title. Pearson returned to the Barnstormers in 2019 continuing his momentum and tying the league lead with six interceptions earning First Team All-IFL. He made his return to the franchise as a veteran of the league for the 2023 season, helping to lead the defense through a tumultuous season.
"One of our number one priorities to begin the off-season was to get Tyrell back for 2024," said Coach Mogensen. "He came back to Iowa in a new role, one as a veteran team leader, and once he made the necessary adjustments to that his on field play was lights out. We expect TP to continue to build as a leader and be one of the cornerstones of our defense this season."
Pearson is returning to the Barnstormers to right the wrongs of the 2023 season and fight for another Championship Title.
"I came back to Iowa last year to help win another championship for our fans and the way things went last year put a bad taste in my mouth," said Pearson. "That wasn't Barnstormers football so I felt I needed to come back again and make things right."
Pearson will enter the Iowa Barnstormers 2024 Training Camp in the spring.
