Peacock Shuts Down Myrtle Beach; P-Nats Win 4-0

WOODBRIDGE, VA - Starter Brad Peacock went six scoreless recording four strikeouts as Potomac shut out Myrtle Beach for the second consecutive night. The P-Nats get one game within .500 at 13-14 while the Pelicans drop to 8-22: the worst record in the Carolina League. Potomac also wins a four game series for first time this season.

Mike Burgess hit his second homerun of the season to start the second inning to open up the scoring. Burgess also drove in the second run of the game in the third with a fielders choice up the middle to put Potomac up 2-0. The third run of the day come off Jose Lozada hitting a double after Brian Peacock hit a double himself to put the Nats up 3-0 in the 4th.

Peacock continued to cruise into the sixth. Coming into tonight's game, he had given up six runs in just 2/3 of an inning pitching in the 6th. He retired the first batter however Peacock gave up back to back singles to Cory Harrilchak and Yoel Campusano. But Peacock worked himself out the jam to keep zeros on the scoreboard.

The Potomac bullpen took it from there. Dan Leatherman worked himself out of a bases loaded and no out jam in the seventh. After the Nationals added a run to go up 4-0, Cory VanAllen and Cole Kimball threw perfect 8th and 9th innings respectively to secure the victory.

Potomac recorded it's third shutout of the season. The P-Nats left 18 on base. Pitching wise Potomac yielded just nine base runners and struck out six. Potomac has not given up a run in 18 innings.

Next up for the P-Nats a trip to Kinston for three games with the K-Tribe. Robinson Fabian (1-0, 4.76 in 4 appearances including two starts) faces Alex White (1-2, 2.81 in five starts) tomorrow night at 7 p.m. start. The Nats return the Pfitz next Monday to start a four-game series with Winston-Salem.
