Kinston Indians News Release
Kinston wraps up a 4-game set tonight at Lynchburg. Alex White will take the mound tomorrow night at Grainger Stadium as the K-Tribe starts a short 3 game homestand against Myrtle Beach
Walk Off Blues- The K-Tribe suffered through their second walk-off loss in a row last night. That is the fourth walk-off loss this season and also the third walk-off loss in the last four games. Salem walked-off on the K-Tribe on Sunday thanks to a bases loaded sacrifice fly. On Tuesday night, Neftali Soto's two-run homer won it for Lynchburg, and on Wednesday night it was Alex Buchholz who delivered the walk-off RBI single for the Hillcats. In all, Kinston has allowed 9 come-from-behind wins.
Head Scratcher - Despite a 9-17 record, the Indians have actually outscored their opponents 106-98 this season. Why the poor record? Kinston has lost 8 games by 1 run, while 8 of their 9 wins have been by 3 runs or more. The numbers are also inflated by blowout wins of 15-2 and 12-2.
Ring the Bell- After a slow start at the plate, Kyle Bellows is having a scorching road trip, hitting 8-for-20 (.400) with a HR and 4 RBI in 5 games. He has raised his batting average 48 points, from .222 to .270 during the trip. Bellows leads the team with a .341 average on the road.
