SAINT JOHN, NB --- The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League has announced that Saint John Sea Dogs forward Payton Liske has been named a finalist for the 2009 Marcel-Robert Trophy, awarded annually to the league's top academic player.

The remaining finalists for this prestigious award are Guillaume Goulet of Baie-Comeau, Dominic Jalbert of Chicoutimi, Drummondville's Danny Massé, and Shawinigan's Pierre-Alexandre Vandall.

To determine the winner, each remaining candidate will take part in an interview, which will measure their analytical skills and their understanding of current events. The interviews will be held in Montreal, on Monday, March 2, and will be conducted by the members of the Marcel-Robert Committee: Guy Darveau, Committee President, Natasha Llorens, the Anti-Doping Program Coordinator, Éric L'Italien, a former player and Marcel-Robert Trophy winner, Sébastien Fyfe of Alliance Sport-Études, and Willy Palov of the Halifax Chronicle Herald.

Liske, 20, is currently a student at the University of New Brunswick where he is majoring in Economics. The Welland, ON native has thrice been named Saint John's Scholastic Player of the Month, most recently in October of 2008.

Originally signed by the Sea Dogs as a free agent in December of 2006, Liske has recorded 53G-70A-123P in his five-year CHL career. The 6'5", 218 lb. winger set a career high this past Sunday when he scored his 19th goal of the season in a 5-2 home win over the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles.
