PayPal Park to Host Club America vs. Atlas FC on July 7

SAN JOSE, Calif. - PayPal Park, home of the San Jose Earthquakes, will host an international friendly between Mexico's Club America and Atlas FC on Wednesday, July 7. The match kicks off at 6:30 p.m. PT and marks the 11th meeting all-time between two Mexican teams at PayPal Park since its opening in 2015.

There will also be a Fan Fest prior to the match, featuring live music, food, team trophies display, and other surprise and delights.

An exclusive presale for Earthquakes Season Ticket Holders will begin on Wednesday, May 26 at 10 a.m. PT before tickets are made available to the general public later that day at 2 p.m. PT. Tickets can be purchased via Ticketmaster.com.

Founded in 1916, Club America is the most successful club in Mexico with 34 total championships in its history, including a record 13 Liga MX titles, six Campeón de Campeones and six Copa MX championships. Club America have also fared well in international competitions, recording eight Concacaf Champions League titles and two Copa Interamericana championships, and have previously competed in other highly prestigious tournaments like Copa Libertadores.

Led by Argentine head coach Santiago Solari, Las Aguilas finished in second place during the 2021 Clausura season with a 12-3-2 overall record. Club America are currently in pursuit of their ninth Concacaf Champions League title after defeating the Portland Timbers by 4-2 aggregate in the Quarterfinals on May 5. Club America's current roster features Mexico National Team players Sebastian Cordoba, Henry Martin, Guillermo Ochoa, and Jorge Sanchez, as well as national team players from Chile, Colombia, Peru, and Paraguay.

Atlas FC, also founded in 1916, has earned a reputation as one of the top talent-producing clubs in Mexico. Atlas' academy system has developed players such as Rafael Marquez, Andres Guardado, Pavel Pardo, Jared Borgetti, and Jose de Jesus Corona, all of which have been prominent contributors for the Mexico National Team. Since its inception, Los Rojinegros have won four Copa MX championships, four Campeon de Campeones, and one Liga MX trophy.

With Argentine head coach Diego Cocca currently at the helm, Atlas finished in seventh place during the 2021 Clausura season with a 7-6-4 overall record and made their first appearance in the Liga MX playoffs since 2017. Los Zorros , who have a Mexican-heavy roster, are led by team figures Julio Furch, Renato Ibarra, Aldo Rocha, and Camilo Vargas.
