The New Jersey Jackals continued their winning ways on Friday night as they topped the Elmira Pioneers, 4-1. The win was the Jackals sixth in a row and seventh in eight games. The win moved the Jackals to above .500 for the first time since May 30. Jackals' pitcher Issac Pavlik pitched another stellar performance scattering eight hits over eight innings allowing only one earned run, while striking out eight. Offensively, New Jerseys' top-of-the-order led the way with eight of the teams' nine hits and collected four RBI's. Zach Smithlin, Ricardo Cordova, Sandy Madera and John Lindsay had one, two, one and two hits respectively. All of the Jackals' four runs were scored on doubles. Elmira starter Jose Guzman took the loss for the Pioneers giving up three runs in three innings. These two teams will meet again tomorrow for the second of this four game series.
