Busy month ahead for Cutters

July 1, 2005 - Canadian American League (Can-Am)
New Haven County Cutters News Release

July might be one of the hottest months of the year, but the fun at Yale Field provided by the New Haven County Cutters won't be disrupted by the summer heat as the fans get to experience some exciting promotions. The month also marks the end of the first half of the season and features two weekend series against division rival New Jersey, the second one of which signals the start of the second half.

With 19 home games in July, Manager Mike Church and his Cutters players will have ample opportunity to gain some momentum in the final games of the first half and use that to propel the team to a successful launch in the second half.

The month begins with a 12-game homestand that starts on Tuesday (July 5) at 7:05 p.m. against the Elmira Pioneers. During the Elmira series, fans will get a chance to enjoy some great food deals such as the $3 hot dog, soda and chips combo during Tuesday's All-American Picnic at the Park and $.50 hot dogs courtesy of Hummel Bros the following night. On Thursday, fans will be able to witness a midget-wrestling match between Short Sleeve Sampson and Little Killa in the FunZone after the game. The diminutive grapplers will be signing autographs and selling memorabilia in the main concourse during the game.

The wrestling theme continues on Friday as the Cutters offer a tribute to wrestling featuring one of the legends of the squared circle, George "The Animal" Steele. Steele will be signing autographs, posing for photos and selling signed pictures of himself for $1 with all proceeds going to charity.

On Sunday, July 10 humans won't be the only species at the ballpark. Fans are encouraged to bring their dogs to the Cutters game against the New Jersey Jackals. There will be a pooch-parade taking place before the game and various canine-related activities occurring throughout the stadium during the afternoon.

Harry Potter fans will want to be at Yale Field on Friday, July 15, when 500 copies of his newest adventure, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, go on sale at the Cutters' home field at midnight. The whole evening will feature events, such as a lookalike contest, that are based on J.K. Rowling's series.

There will be a very recognizable figure at the Cutters game on Saturday, July 16. Television and movie star SpongeBob SquarePants will be at Yale Field interacting with fans and cheering the Cutters on.

Tickets for all Cutters home games can be purchased online at www.CuttersBaseball.com, by calling 203-777-5636 or by visiting the Yale Field box office.
