Winston-Salem, NC - In a fiercely contested 60 minute game, it was minute number one that ultimately decided Friday night's contest between Carolina and Elmira, with the Thunderbirds winning 1-0 thanks to a Jiri Pargac goal 47 seconds in.

Pargac secured the game's only tally banging away at the back post after a Troy Passingham save. Passingham denied Pargac a couple of times but could never get the puck under him to get the whistle and that goal in the game's first minute was all that the Thunderbirds needed to get the win.

Elmira pulled their netminder off of a timeout play with 1:45 left to go in the game. A questionable hit after that faceoff got the teams to meet in the Carolina zone and the referees pulled a man from each side. With a 5-on-4 advantage for Elmira they mustered a couple shots on Pavlas but could not solve him in the game's final seconds and Carolina skated away with all three points for the sixth consecutive time against the Elmira Enforcers.

Christian Pavlas stopped all 23 shots for his second shutout of the season and his fourth consecutive win. Troy Passingham stopped 38 of 39 shots in the loss for Elmira.

The Thunderbirds and Enforcers take the ice again on Saturday night with a 6:05 puck drop in Winston-Salem. The pre-game show starts at 5:40 on the Carolina Thunderbirds Broadcast Network.
