Binghamton Senators News Release
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Binghamton Senators head into the mini-Christmas break with a 2-1 win over the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. Nick Paul scored his first professional goal to help break a 1-1 tie with 2:20 left to play.
The first period held the teams at a 0-0 stalemate despite shots being 12-9 in favor of Binghamton. Ryan Dzingel opened the scoring at the 13:38 mark of second period with his seventh goal of the year. Eric O'Dell poked the puck loose in the neutral zone to find Dzingel who then backhanded it over Jason LaBarbera. Binghamton took the 1-0 lead into the final intermission outshooting the Phantoms 11-5.
Colin McDonald tied up the game for the Phantoms a little over 13 minutes into the final period after putting a rebounded puck past Matt O'Connor for his first goal of the year. Paul broke the tie and pushed the final score to 2-1 over four minutes later with Tobias Lindberg and Mark Fraser picking up the assists on the game winning goal.
Matt O'Connor stopped 22 shots for the B-Sens win while LaBarbera stopped 30 in the losing effort.
