Kingston Frontenacs News Release
Last night, Paul McFarland accepted the 2020 Outstanding Young Alumni Award from his alma mater, Acadia University.
The Outstanding Young Alumni Award recognizes Acadia alumni who have graduated within the past 10 years whose endeavours in professional research, athletics, the arts, the community or other areas worthy of recognition bring honour to Acadia University.
In early 2020, Acadia announced that Paul would receive the Outstanding Young Alumni Award at the university's 2020 Annual Alumni Dinner and Awards event. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event was pushed to 2021. Last night, Paul was formally honoured with his award at a virtual celebration.
Paul graduated from Acadia in 2010 with a BBA. During his time at university, McFarland played four seasons for the Acadia Axemen men's hockey team and was captain for three (2007-10).
A leader on and off the ice, McFarland is a three-time Academic All-Canadian, S.M.I.L.E. volunteer and was twice named Acadia University's Male Citizen of the Year. The Paul McFarland Award, established in 2010 and named in his honour, recognizes the combination of athletics, academics and community involvement at Acadia.
The Kingston Frontenacs are incredibly proud of Paul's recent accomplishment and we want to congratulate him on his award!
