FC Dallas News Release
Frisco, Texas - FC Dallas players Paul Arriola and Jesús Ferreira will participate in U.S. Men's National Team's fitness workouts from Oct. 25-Nov. 5 in Frisco, Texas. The fitness workouts will be for MLS-based players who are in contention for the World Cup roster and no longer in league competition. The following players will also report Oct. 25 to Frisco:
Aaron Long (New York Red Bulls)
Shaq Moore (Nashville SC)
Jordan Morris (Seattle Sounders)
Cristian Roldan (Seattle Sounders)
Gaga Slonina (Chicago Fire)
DeAndre Yedlin (Inter Miami)
Walker Zimmerman (Nashville SC)
Players will continue to be added as their seasons are completed.
Arriola, 27, wrapped up his first season with FC Dallas scoring a career-high 10 goals and provided seven assists over 34 MLS matches. His success during the month of May, where he had a stretch of five consecutive matches with at least one goal scored from May 7-28, earned Arriola MLS Player of the Month recognition. Arriola also recorded season-high records in regular season appearances (32) and minutes (2,570).
Ferreira, 21, had one of his best goal-scoring seasons after scoring a career-high 18 goals and recording six assists. He tied the club's single-season record for goals in a season, which is jointly held by Kenny Cooper (18 in 2008) and Jason Kreis (18 in 1999). Ferreira's 18 goals this season were the third most by a player prior to turning 22 years old, behind only Stern John (26 in 1998) and Mamadou Diallo (22 in 2000). He was named MLS Young Player of the Year and ranked No. 1 in the 2022 MLS 22 Under 22 presented by BODYARMOR.
FC Dallas goalkeeper Antonio Carrera has been called up to U.S. U-20 Men's Youth National Team final training camp of the year, which will also be held in Frisco from Oct. 25-Nov. 6. Carrera appeared in goal in 16 matches for North Texas SC, allowing 18 goals, making 53 saves and recording a 74.7 saves percentage.
The U.S. Soccer Federation will host an exclusive roster reveal event at Brooklyn Steel in New York City on Wednesday, Nov. 9 to announce the 26-player roster that represents the United States in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. The event will be carried exclusively on ESPN2 and live streamed on ESPN+ beginning at 4 p.m. CT.
The U.S. Men's National Team open World Cup group play against Wales on Nov. 21, face England on Friday, Nov. 25 and finish the first round against Iran on Nov. 29. All three of the USA's group stage games will kick off at 1 p.m. CT live on FOX and Telemundo.
