Patterson Sent To Disabled List; Ortiz Transferred To Jamestown

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jacksonville Suns, Double-A minor league affiliate of the Miami Marlins, announced today that OF Ryan Patterson has been sent to the 7-day DL (right ankle fracture), effective immediately. In another move, INF Jaime Ortiz is reinstated from the Suspended List and is transferred from JAX to Jamestown. The Suns roster will remain at 24, which is one less than the league maximum of 25.

Patterson, in 52 games with the Suns in 2012, is batting .244 with three home runs and 16 runs batted in 168 plate appearances. Patterson injured his ankle while trying to turn a single into a double against Jackson on June 10, 2012.

Ortiz, who was suspended on April 19, 2012, has been reinstated and transferred to Jamestown. Ortiz, in 14 games with the Suns in 2012, hit .188 with one homerun and four runs batted in and two runs scored.
