Week In Review:

Friday, February 20th 2009 Moose Jaw Warriors 2 @ Regina Pats 5

In front of a national TV audience, the Pats broke a long 7 game losing streak with a 5-2 win over their Highway One rivals, the Moose Jaw Warriors. Tomas Hricina scored twice while Garrett Mitchell, Victor Bartley (pp) and Matt Delahey (en/sh) added singles. The victory was the fifth in 6 games against the Warriors which let the Pats capture the Mayor's Cup.

Sunday, February 22nd 2009 Regina Pats 4 @ Moose Jaw Warriors 1

The Pats went 40 minutes west for the back end of the extended weekend series with the Warriors, and looked solid in a 4-1 victory. The line of Jordan Eberle (1g, 4a), Jordan Weal (3a) and Mitch Czibere (2g) combined for 8 points while Matt Robertson (ppg) scored the other Pats goal. Linden Rowat stopped all but on Warrior shot, as his shut-out was spoiled with a 100 foot slapshot from Jason Bast that eluded his glove.

Eberle topping the charts:

With his goal Sunday night against the Warriors, Jordan Eberle now has 101 for his Pat career. This puts him in a tie with Karry Biette (Pats 90-94) and one behind Brent Fedyk (Pats 82-87) and Gerry Minor (Pats 74-78) on the modern Pats all-time list (1966-present). Eberle's 192 pushed him by Dave Faulkner (Pats 73-75) and is 3 points behind Kyle Calder (Pats 95-99) on the all-time Pats point list.

Weal's freshman success:

With his three points against the Warriors on Sunday night, Jordan Weal now has 58 points this season, which is 3 more than what Jordan Eberle had in his rookie season.

Leffler's break-out season:

Brett Leffler grabbed an assist this past Sunday, which was his 50th point of the season. This doubles his career point output, which gives him 100 points for his WHL career.

Bartley's career year:

Pats 20 year-old captain, Victor Bartley, is having a fantastic final season in the WHL. He is the only Pat to play in all 62 games this season and is a point away from tying a career best for a season with 43.

This Week:

It's a busy 7 days for the Regina Pats, as they will play 4 times, 3 of them on the road. It begins Tuesday in Swift Current in a date with the Broncos, then a quick jaunt through the Central Division with stops in Calgary and Cranbrook. The week ends with Kyle Beach and the Lethbridge Hurricanes pay a visit to the Brand Centre this Sunday at 6pm.

Making a run to the WHL playoffs:

As of this Monday, the Pats are currently 3 points back of both the Edmonton Oil Kings and Prince Albert Raiders for the final playoff spot, with 2 games at hand on both teams. Here's who all three teams will face for the rest of the season.
