Regina Pats News Release

The Regina Pats (17-29-5-3) host the Medicine Hat Tigers (20-15-2-2) tonight at 7:00 in the Agridome. The Pats are looking to extend their unbeaten streak to three games, following back-to-back victories over Brandon and Moose Jaw, and last night's 2-2 tie against the Warriors here in the Agridome. 4,653 fans watched as Perry Faul and Rick Rypien scored the goals and Dustin Slade and Nick Olynick split the goaltending duties. Slade had stopped all 56 Warriors' shots going back the past two games, before he was ejected from Monday's game for his match penalty. The Pats were 1/7 on the powerplay and 7/7 killing penalties.

PATS NOTES: The Pats are 10-10-3-1 at home, 3-4-3 in their past 10 games, and 9-8-0-2 versus the Central Division. Rick Rypien took over the team's scoring lead last night (16-19-35) followed by Dan Waschuk (17-17-34), Jon Bubnick (14-17-31) and Lance Morrison (10-21-31). Rypien remains the team's PM leader (148). Regina is now five points behind Brandon for third-place and 19 up on Saskatoon for the final playoff spot.

TIGERS NOTES: Medicine Hat is 13-9-4 on the road, and 8-1-1 over their past 10 games. They enter tonight on a 3-game winning streak. Their last game was Saturday night in The Arena, where they dumped Brandon 5-1. Blanshan, Howarth, Russell, Hollweg and Meyer scored the goals while Kevin Nastiuk made 23 saves for the win in goal. The Tigers were 0/8 on the PP and 4/4 killing penalties. Clarke MacArthur is their leading scorer (30-33-63), followed by Stefan Meyer (29-32-61) and Chris St.Jacques (21-40-61). Darren Reid is their PM leader (129) and shares the plus/minus lead with Steve Marr at +25. The Tigers sit 2nd place in the Central Division, just three points behind Swift Current. Tomorrow Medicine Hat visits Brandon.

QUOTABLE: "We're not talking so much about catching Brandon as we are just playing a good game. We're getting the consistently we've been looking for within the games, and now we need to sustain it and try to put some wins back-to-back." - Pats coach Bob Lowes

SPECIAL TEAMS: Pats PP is 16th in the WHL (14.4%) and their PK is 19th (78.7%) ... Tigers PP is #1 in the league (24.3%) and their PK is 11th (82%).

TONIGHT IN THE WHL: Prince George at Everett, Kootenay at Kamloops.

NEXT UP: The Pats host the P.A. Raiders Sunday afternoon at 2:00. Catch 620 CKRM's broadcast of the game beginning with the Pats GameNight Pregame Show at 6:35.
