Pats Finish U.S. Road Trip with 5-3 Loss in Everett

Everett, Wash. - The Regina Pats finished their six game U.S. road trip with a 5-3 loss to the Everett Silvertips at the Angel of the Winds Arena on Saturday.

The Pats got goals from Corban Almen, Carson Haynes and Aaron Krestanowich as well as two assists from Logan Peskett. Kelton Pyne made his second start of the road trip, making 35 saves in the loss.

Carter Bear (1G-1A), Julius Miettinen (1G-1A) and Julien Maze (2A) had multi-point games for the Silvertips who extended their point-streak to six straight (4-0-1-1). Rylan Pearce, Lukas Kaplan and Caden Brown rounded out the scoring while Tyler Palmer made 27 saves.

After the Silvertips opened the scoring, the Pats took a 2-1 lead into the second period after goals from Almen and Haynes. In the second, the Silvertips got two goals late after a couple unlucky bounces in front of the net, taking a 3-2 lead into the third.

THE GOALS

First Period

1-0 Silvertips at 8:30 - Lukas Kaplan (6), assisted by Julien Maze & Will Jamieson // The Pats had trouble containing the puck behind their net and Maze found Kaplan in front of the Pats net and put it past Pyne to give the Silvertips a 1-0 lead.

1-1 Pats at 9:11 - Corban Almen (5), assisted by Cole Temple & Logan Peskett // Palmer stopped the initial Pats drive but the puck bounced up and over him and Almen was able to knock it out of mid-air and past the Silvertips netminder to tie the game up at 1-1.

2-1 Pats at 14:14 - Carson Haynes (4), assisted by Braxton Whitehead & Kolten Bridgeman (4-on-4) // Whitehead got the puck in the right circle, and he found a streaking Haynes who roofed it past Palmer to give the Pats their first lead of the game at 2-1.

Second Period

2-2 Silvertips at 16:09 - Rylan Pearce (3), assisted by Eric Jamieson & Julius Miettinen // Pearce got the puck along the right boards just outside the circle and let a shot go that deflected past Pyne to tie the game up at 2-2.

3-2 Silvertips at 17:12 - Carter Bear (24), assisted by Cade Zaplitny & Kaden Hammell // A long-range shot from the point bounced around near the Pats net and Bear was able to get a piece of it and knock it home to give the Silvertips their second one-goal lead of the game this time at 3-2.

Third Period

4-2 Silvertips at 11:52 - Julius Miettinen (27), assisted by Jesse Heslop & Certer Bear // Miettinen fought off a back-checking Pats forward, received a pass in the front of the net and tucked it past Pyne to make it 4-2.

5-2 Silvertips at 17:44 - Caden Brown (6), assisted by Julien Maze // Brown got behind the Pats defender, grabbed the loose puck, and tucked it past Pyne to make it 5-2 for the hometown Silvertips.

5-3 Pats at 18:11 - Aaron Krestanowich (4), assisted by Logan Peskett & Zackary Shantz // Krestanowich's shot beat Palmer just inside the right post to make the score 5-3.
