Pats Eye Bounce Back Performance in Moose Jaw

Regina, Sask. - Tonight historic rivals faceoff for the first time this season, as the Regina Pats (2-1-0) take on the Moose Jaw Warriors (1-1-0) on Friday at 7:00 p.m., inside Mosaic Place.

It's the second of three games this week, as Regina is coming coming off a 5-2 loss to the ICE in Winnipeg on Wednesday, snapping the clubs two game winning-streak. The Pats gave up three unanswered goals in the second period, while outshot 24-5 in the period and were never able to find a way to get back into the hockey game. Zack Stringer added his second goal in as many games and Drew Englot and Ryker Evans extended their point-streaks to three games. Matthew Kieper made a season high 36 saves on 41 shots in the defeat. The Pats went 2-for-6 on their power play and 4-for-6 on the penalty kill. The final shots were 41-18 for Winnipeg.

THE WARRIORS

The Moose Jaw Warriors have played two of their 10 games in the month of October, and will play five of their next eight games on home ice. Last season the Warriors went 8-13-3-0, good for sixth in the Hub Centre while receiving strong play from Eric Alarie (19GP-10G-10A), Daemon Hunt (23GP-8G-10A) and Brayden Yager (24GP-7G-11A) who are all back this year.

Moose Jaw is coming off a home-and-home split with Saskatoon, winning 7-1 at home on Friday before losing 4-2 on Saturday. Goaltender Carl Tetachuk got the win on Friday, allowing just one goal on 33 shots. Yager has three goals in two games, which is tied for the WHL lead while Hunt has totaled two goals in two games.

HEAD TO HEAD

This will mark the first of 10 meetings this season and the first of five in the first half.

Last season, the Regina Pats went 2-0-1-1 against the Warriors, recording six of a possible eight points in the season series. The Pats won 3-2 in overtime, 4-1 in regulation, while losing 5-4 in overtime and 3-2 in a shootout. The Pats have recorded at least a point in seven straight games against the Warriors dating back to December 27th, 2019, going 5-0-1-1 during that time. The Regiment are also 6-2-1-0 at Mosaic over the last five years.

Defenceman Ryker Evans has recorded an assist in three straight games, with four assists during that time.

Forward Drew Englot has tallied two goals and one assist over his three game point-streak.

Cole Dubinsky (3A) and Zack Stringer (2G) are riding a two game point-streak.

Connor Bedard's three goals in three games is tied for first in the WHL. He now has 15 goals in 18 career WHL contests.

The Pats have the WHL's sixth best power play, running at 26.7%, while their penalty kill is 13th in the WHL at 80.0%.
