Bridgewater, NJ- The Somerset Patriots (5-0, 40-28) defeated the Lancaster Barnstormers (1-4, 39-29) 3-1 at TD Bank Ballpark on Saturday evening.
David Kubiak (5-1) allowed a run on four hits and struck out five to earn the win. It was his third straight outing with seven-plus innings pitched and his second straight win.
"Not a lot was working and I kind of labored a little on this one," said Kubiak. "The guys made a lot of plays behind me and I just made pitches when I had to."
The Barnstormers took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning on a solo home run by Tyler Bortnick (5).
The Patriots jumped in front in the bottom of the frame on a sacrifice fly by Craig Massey and a two-run home run by Ramon Flores (1) for a 3-1 advantage.
Nate Reed (6-3) suffered the loss, allowing three runs on three hits in six innings pitched. Ryan Kelly earned his 13th save of the season with a scoreless ninth inning pitched.
