ATLANTIC CITY - The Somerset Patriots defeated the Atlantic City Surf 8 -1 before 1,410 at Sandcastle Stadium on Saturday evening. Somerset used multiple base hits and timely hitting to put away the Surf. The Surf struck first with Dario Delgado's twelfth home run of the season, but it was all Patriots from there. Somerset's used hitting from centerfielder Jeremy Owens who blasted a three run home run in the fourth inning off Atlantic City starter Lincoln Mikkelsen. Mikkelsen received the loss and fell to 3-6 on the season. Mikkelsen went six innings and allowed six earned runs on six hits while walking three and striking out four. Somerset starting pitcher, Nick Stocks, received his second win in his second start of the season. Stocks went seven innings and allowed one earned run on six hits while walking one and striking out four. Somerset evened up the season series with the Surf 3-3 and will finish the holiday weekend series on Sunday night at 6:35 p.m. with fireworks to follow the game sponsored by Commerce Bank. On July 13th, the Atlantic City Surf will play host to the North Fork Bank Atlantic League All Star Game at Sandcastle Stadium.
